A true rustic ambiance is created by using reclaimed barn wood for various beams, trim details and custom barn doors. Stone has been used in the kitchen, master suite, dining room and great room. The natural textures of the materials are further accented with wrought iron brackets, suspension cables and railroad ties. This five bedroom, five bathroom home has a very traditional feel from exterior to interior spaces; however some spaces will surprise you with a slightly modern flair. One unique feature makes use of a second floor hallway as an integrated library with hidden doors and barrel vaulted ceiling. This home has exquisite detail and fantastic integrated indoor/outdoor living.

Serious about play

Under her leadership, the executive team is focused on increasing Meyer’s presence in new markets and locations and delivering impact-driven design that is equitable and inclusive.

This home is a charming addition to the ambiance of downtown Naperville. With 4 bedrooms and a first floor office that can be converted to a guest suite, this home has room to grow. The detached garage holds additional attic storage while still maintaining scale to the height of the neighborhood.

Meyer Davis is a globally recognized New York City–based design boutique specializing in residential, hospitality, retail and workplace environments. Our first meeting is always complimentary at which time you will get to know us, our process and see some recent projects. Our fees are based on an initial meeting with you to review the project scope and your design preferences. We strive to design your home in a way to save you more during construction than our fees and expenses will typically add only  1% to 2% to hard construction costs of your new home. This is far less than you would invest in a realtor to help you find a home that was not designed specifically for you, your family and your lifestyle. We meet ASTMF-1487, the standard performance specifications for playground equipment for public use.

Our architects will provide conceptual design ideas, sketches, CAD drawings, construction documents and specifications. We can also assist in bidding, selecting a quality contractor, management of the construction up until you move in to your new home. There are many important issues to be aware of concerning playground safety.

It does require some maintenance and periodic “topping off” to maintain the required depth needed for safety. The first commonly accepted method used to make structures accessible are to provide ramps, taking into account the degree of slope and the dimensions. The second method is to include transfer points, which are a series of platforms that allow a child to leave a wheelchair and access the play structure. Every child deserves the opportunity to play in safe and creative environments that foster the development of important life skills and social play. While our firm name is on every project, so is the name and reputation of every team member. We’re passionate about advancing the art and science of children’s play.

The CPSC offers a free booklet containing guidelines for playground safety that is an excellent resource for organizations. The booklet provides information regarding site location, equipment location, age separation, types of equipment and access to it. All the factors that contribute to the design and construction of a safe and accessible playground are included.

51 Best Interior Design Ideas We Heard from Designers

interior design advice

“Your entrance is a transitional space, so you can go bold with your designs,” she says. “Paint your crown moldings and baseboards the same color as the wall,” Chiu says. Buying a living room set is like surrendering to the furniture gods—taking the easy and visually boring way out. Designers look for things that go together but never came together. If not, you can cozy up your space with a few accessories—like a teak bath stool or a wooden bath mat. 'Generally, cooler colors are more relaxing, while warmer colors excite,’ says Matthew Williamson.

Combine Strong Colors and Prints

If you’re navigating a small space, look for ways to make your furniture multitask. “Have furniture that is useful for more than one thing,” Melone Cloughen says. This could be a desk that doubles as a buffet—or even a bench that doubles as a coffee table, she says. Dark colors tend to add depth to a palette, and if you don’t want to commit to a dark coat of paint, you can always sprinkle in a few dark accents.

Give your decor a new lease of life

Remember to measure from the artwork’s back fitting cord and not the top of its frame. You can expect to pay from about $300 to $2,000 (€276-€1,841) for a video chat and expert advice. Founder Jake Arnold, who has worked with celebrity clients including Katy Perry, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, charges $2,000 for a 55-minute call. For those opting for a 2D option, for example, this will include a mood board that allows the client to see all the items she has chosen for the room design, along with an itemised shopping list. If this isn’t enough, then you can opt for two 45-minute sessions for €90, with advice including 2D floorplans and wall and floor finish suggestions. Since its 2009 foundation in a bohemian studio off of Venice and Abbot Kinney, hospitality-based Avenue Interior Design has positioned itself as a tiny powerhouse in an industry full of giants.

Use Mirrors to Open Up Your Space

If you are on a tight budget, there are some items you should splurge on. The two most important pieces of furniture—likely the items that will get the most use—are your sofa and bed. A mixture of high-ticket items with less expensive options is a trick of the trade that makes the room still feel stylish without breaking the bank. While you could have a different style and color scheme in each room, often you will want to tie the whole dwelling together.

Tips to Get Started With Your Decor

But it’s never too late to transform something unsightly into a stunning feature with a decorator trick. Every season brings new textile designs even prettier than the ones before. These bold, bright motifs can instantly update and uplift a tired interior. First, place two large (20-inch) pillows in each corner of your sofa. Then add two medium-sized (16-inch) scatters and end with a small lumbar pillow to balance the design.

Basic Interior Design Rules for Commercial Buildings:

Choosing one texture for your floors and another for your walls can make your furniture pop. And layering in textured accessories—like knit blankets, velvet pillows, and ceramic vases—can make your space even more dynamic. Balancing tons of different colors can get intimidating—especially if you’re a first-time decorator. And that’s exactly why Becc Burgmann, director and founder of Becc Burgmann Interior Design and Decorating, Sydney, recommends using only cool colors or only warm colors. Your base layer should include your biggest furniture—the pieces you’ll take with you from home to home. Since these layers are more flexible, you might swap them out as you move from home to home.

interior design advice

Use trays to turn ottomans into small tables, and snag pillows that can double as plush floor seating. Additions like these can help you optimize your space—making it even more functional and livable. Furniture and accessories play a vital role in completing the overall design of an interior space.

Bring the room to life with lighting

In 2014, she launched her own company, Palevsky Inc., specializing in interiors that blend comfort, livability and modernity with high style. Her most recent project included a massive renovation of a 15,000-square-foot estate located on the bluffs of Punta Mita Estates in Mexico. Part of a long lineage of craft, expertise, and experience, they have a deep understanding of the tactile, and they see interiors as a profound, provocative, and essential element of architectural design.

Home Design Ideas That Will Change the Way We Decorate in 2023

Described as a “branding virtuoso” by Architectural Digest, her vibrant interiors and lifestyle boutique make her a leading name in modern American design. The multi-talented author and fashionista has been featured both on the Los Angeles Times‘ bestseller list and Vogue‘s Best Dressed list. Her famous clients include the ever-so-stylish Gwen Stefani and Cameron Diaz. David Dalton Inc. specializes in both commercial and residential interior design and has completed a rich variety of international interior projects.

Experiment with different colour swatches; consider the space’s natural light and the existing furniture and decor to ensure a cohesive and visually pleasing colour scheme. Colour profoundly impacts our emotions, moods, and overall well-being. It can evoke certain feelings, create a sense of harmony, and set the tone for a space.

In fact, mixing and matching your furniture can look just as harmonious—and much more dynamic. “I like to have at least one light fixture that stands out—whether it's 1-2 large pendants over a kitchen island or a unique vanity light in the bathroom," she says. The designers also recommend using rugs to define these mini-areas. 'Artwork is an incredibly personal addition to an interior, and as such we recommend selecting a piece that speaks to you,' says Emma Sims-Hilditch.

Look for old family photos, antique heirlooms, vintage quilts, and other special pieces, and use them the way you’d use more classic decor. Consider bedroom paint ideas such as upcycling a piece of furniture with a decorative paint technique. This is not only good for the environment but gives you the opportunity to flex your creative muscles.

Creating a timeless color scheme should take inspiration from pared-back neutrals that outlive design trends, and the enduring sophistication of blues and greens. As the designers explain, bold and personality-led colors can be incorporated too, just do so sparingly to ensure longevity. Remember that your choice of color can make or break your interior design ideas. If you want your décor to stand out, don’t stick with neutrals as they’re too subtle and will not make your space standout. Instead, choose colorful patterns that are aesthetically appealing and pleasing to the eyes. Art displays can help set the color palette of the interior design for home.

Take the time to reflect on what attracts you and what makes you feel most comfortable and inspired. Some prefer clean lines and simplicity, while others gravitate towards warm and cosy elements. By understanding your personal style, you can create a space that reflects your personality and serves as a true reflection of who you are. In fact, a new color is one of the core remodeling ideas that can give a home a quick refresh. Some furniture pieces will need a base coat before you can add the finish you want. And to make sure you have the best color for a wall, test the color you want in three different shades first.

Front yard landscaping ideas: 20 front yard ideas

front landscape design

The garden was always a big part of Holly's life growing up, as was the surrounding New Forest where she lived. Her appreciation for the great outdoors has only grown since then; over the years, she's been an allotment keeper, a professional gardener, and a botanical illustrator. Having worked for Gardeningetc.com for two years, Holly now regularly writes about plants and outdoor living for Homes & Gardens.

of the Most Dangerous Plants in America

These types of materials also provide a pleasing contrast to softer planting choices, such as wispy ornamental grasses or lofty perennial blooms. In this space, a grove of Texas redbud trees which frames the entrance to the home is illuminated by LED lighting. Not only does it create a bold impact after dark, but it will also make navigating the front pathway easier. Achieving a pleasant scale—or keeping elements in proportion to each other—may take time since plants need to grow before you can be sure.

Plant perennial flowers

'Always take the architecture of your home into consideration when creating the design and make sure your plant material works in harmony . When you follow these simple guidelines the front of your home will always be a welcoming place,' says Dawn James. You'll also need to determine if your preference is for, and your site demands, a formal or informal landscape.

Define the Space

In fact, whatever style you're going for, missing it out is a front yard design mistake best avoided. All the elements of good design come into play as you decide how to landscape a front yard. But don't be put off by the aesthetic terms—balance, scale, unity, and the like—used by designers. If a scene pleases your eye, then it's probably well-designed. When planning how to landscape a front yard, pay particular attention to making your home's entrance clear and inviting.

The architectural features of your yard will be the most expensive and permanent. Add year-round beauty to your yard with these ornamental grass varieties. From maples to magnolias, find the perfect tree for any spot in your garden. A neighborhood landmark, this garden also serves as a memories of friends, family, and past homes.

Feature Large Plantings for Impact

The result is a low-maintenance front yard that's functional, calm, and elegant, too. And those sculptural orbs are the perfect finishing touch for an eye-catching focal point. Evaluate your yard and keep these things in mind before laying down any concrete, pea gravel, or sand. For arid climates, a traditional lawn may be impractical or prohibited.

“If you are thinking of selling your house, a tree can be an asset—unless it is one that prospective owners think they will have to remove. 'The main design concept in a modern-minimalist landscape is to use restraint and work hard to minimize your planting palette,' says Amy Hovis of Eden Garden Design. For a sense of cohesion, choose plants that offset the colors of your chosen containers – such as these shrubs and perennials in a palette of fiery hues. When planning how to landscape a front yard, the first thing to do is recognize your bias. The satisfaction of returning home and seeing your front yard from inside can skew your feelings about how it looks to the public. You can also approach your house slowly from each way in your car.

12 Lush Landscaping Ideas for a Hilly Backyard

To create low-maintenance landscaping, stick with regionally suitable grasses or ornamental varieties that require minimal care. Including elements like river rocks and mulch can keep weeds at bay and soil moisture in, reducing watering needs. The final product looks and feels like a desert with a cool, modern twist. Paving is a great low-maintenance choice for front yard landscaping ideas. However, a full paved front yard can look unimaginative and featureless.

Front yard landscaping ideas – 20 ways to add curb appeal

Sphere Hanging Basket | $38 from TerrainMake the most of the overhead space in your front yard with these handmade, hanging planters. Their rusted steel patina gives a nod to urban-chic style. If you want to update a compact front yard, and include as many plants as possible, vertical garden ideas are the way forward.

Have a clear structure to the design and an obvious focal point. You could even grow some vegetables in your front yard using this approach. We love the stripped-back look of this design – but a metal water bowl is another modern option.

The best stoops are large enough for two people to stand on with some cover from the elements and for doors to swing open. A steep, shady incline didn’t stop this howeowner from creating an easy-care, all-season landscape. A once nondescript front yard in Washington was transformed into a glorious Zen-like, lawn-free garden. Peruse the internet and walk around your neighborhood for inspiration. Make a list of attributes you like, such as a porch swing, containers, decorative accessories, or types of fencing.

Also, consider your yard's structural needs—walkways, stairs, driveway, stoop, edgings, and fences. Grow space-saving succulents and cacti or native plants that don't need much water. Instead of grass, cover your soil with attractive landscaping rocks, crushed stone, pebbles or gravel. Also, knowing your plant hardiness zone will allow you to determine which plants grow best in your part of the world.

Many people opt not to have grass in front of their homes for easier maintenance, but this option can be just as impactful as the traditional approach to landscaping. Gone are the days of overgrown barriers—modern hedges involve sleek lines and carefully pruned shapes. Consider using boxwoods or privets for a dense, clean look.

Here, architectural and design firm Ike Kligerman Barkley planted tall grass and leafy greens around the yard’s large rocks. The duo paired the mélange of leafy greens with a stone walkway, water fountain, and tomato red front door. All of the front yard landscaping ideas used were designed to lead – and invite – the eye up to the front door, enhancing the home's front door to make it into a standout feature. Updating your home’s landscaping is a great way to increase the value of your property and create outdoor spaces for relaxing and entertaining.

16 Stunning Staircase Ideas to Inspire Your Own Staircase Design

design stairs

Given that this look is often seen outdoors, it adds a homespun and almost rustic feel to this otherwise formal space. The next time you run up or down one, consider spending a few moments pondering what might set it apart from others. A first-time visitor might think that going up these stairs and entering the building will lead to the lobby of the five-star hotel.

These stringers typically have space for between two and eight stair treads. If you're not a mathematically inclined builder—or for anyone who wants to save time—using pre-cut stair stringers can be a great help. Unique Treehouse Ideas for Your Backyard

“When considering a more traditional but grand addition to a property, we often recommend bifurcated stairs,” says Kristin Hintlian, co-owner of Bonsai Builders in Massachusetts. At the same time, because most measures are accompanied by minimums or maximums, staircase code measurements allow for considerable flexibility. Stairs must be three feet wide or wider, according to staircase code. You can widen the steps as much as you want as long as the three-foot width criteria is met.

Natural Accents

The staircase in your home—we know it serves as a functional piece, getting you from one floor to the other, but it can do a whole lot more for your home's design. It's oftentimes the first thing people see when they first walk into your home, so it should not only be functional but should also contribute to your home's overall design style. In this Galveston, Texas, home, Elias created her own custom wood railing. “I was inspired by classic Chinese Chippendale millwork fences and their light and breezy—yet elevated—vibe, which fit perfectly in this bay house,” she comments. In a Highlands Ranch, Colorado, home, Watts dressed up a sweeping staircase with a custom-designed color from Scott Group Studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Install a bold runner to dress up a simple staircase like this one. Classic plaid speaks to the traditional style of the staircase design while adding a fun dose of personality. Any pattern you love could be the perfect update to your staircase. The vertical alignment of the pattern works with the direction of the stairs, and the indigo color complements the natural wood tones.

The latter protrudes from the tread over the lower step, allowing to increase its size without adding centimeters to the overall dimensions of the staircase. A dark paint color on the risers and stringer of this staircase matches the rest of the trim in the foyer. The dark base helps both the wood on the staircase and the art above to stand out against the white-painted walls. Rustic elements in a toned down finish signify modern farmhouse design. The plank stair treads feature simple square edges, but the light wash makes them feel contemporary.

You can choose from many styles of newel post ball finials and railings.

“If your stairs are bland or need something to dress it up, then creating a cool wall of art can instantly make stairs seem like a curated area,” Linda Hayslett of LH.Designs adds. This staircase by Dynamic Property Services, Inc. features a floating design with glass panels and wood treads, creating a modern and elegant look. The use of lighting under each step adds an extra layer of interest and safety. You’ll need an inspector to approve your new set of stairs to ensure they abide by local building codes.

Brazilian cherry stairway by Dominion Stair Co with free-standing double helix with curved Starlight glass balustrade. At their most basic definition, treads are what you step on to climb your staircase. These horizontal pieces are typically a standard depth—10 to 11 inches at a minimum—to allow for easy (and thoughtless!) use of the staircase. Peña of K Interiors kept function top of mind in this San Francisco home belonging to a family of four. In a Sea Island, Georgia, home Gray Walker of Gray Walker Interiors from Charlotte, North Carolina, brightened up the staircase with an eye-catching, rainbow-colored Missoni runner. A painting from Travis & Company hanging in the foyer mimics many of the hues present.

These are the series of rods or columns extending from the top rail (another component) to the bottom rail (yet another component). The top rail is also called the handrail, an obvious reference to its role as the main hand support when going up or down the stairs. They can be faux tiles, which are easier to install, or actual tiles. Perhaps one of the most intricate designs and architectural details in a home, staircases have a surprising number of components.

A geometric-pattern stair runner boosts both the comfort and style of this staircase. In addition to providing softness and warmth underfoot, the runner also prevents walkers from slipping on the potentially slick wooden treads. Before vacuum cleaners were invented, sweeping dust out of stair corners was a major headache. Stair corner dust guards were created in the 1890s to help simplify sweeping. That’s not their only use, though—stair guards also add some charm to wooden staircases.

Loaded with more butter than one really wants to think about, Jon & Vinny’s has made itself a serious contender for best pancakes in LA. They’re as straightforward as they get with light, fluffy buttermilk pancakes served with the usual accoutrements of maple syrup, a generous helping of salted butter and berries. Our team is focused on creating memorable experiences for our guests.

Four fluffy platter-sized cakes come in one stack, and it might be best to share unless truly hungry. This down and dirty family-run restaurant has been serving West LA since 1982.

The vegan and gluten-free pancakes at this Highland Park cafe come with toasted coconut and a dram of Vermont maple syrup. Light, flakey, and topped with fresh berries, the butter won’t be missed. Those who like their pancakes served with a side of nostalgia will find a happy home at The Original Pantry Café. This no-fuss 24/7 diner opened back in 1924, and has probably been serving these straightforward buttermilk pancakes since its opening day.

Drive past this Inglewood institution, and find hoards of locals trying to get a fix of South LA food staples. There’s not much that needs to be said about these flapjacks – eating them at the restaurant’s worn counter just feels right. Atrium’s creative duo chef Hunter Pritchett and pastry chef Gregory Baumgartner experimented and developed a platter of buckwheat banana pancakes with french butter and maple syrup. It’s a solid addition for everyone, even those adhering to a gluten-free diet. The Saturday and Sunday morning lines are no joke, but is worth the wait after one bite of these cakey monstrosities. If it’s classic buttermilk stacks on the radar, old school diners like The Original Pantry fit the bill, and with 24-hour service at that. The City of Angels is also home to some outrageously decadent versions, most notably from West Hollywood’s iconic The Griddle. There’s nothing quite like a leisurely morning with a heaping stack of flapjacks and all the nostalgia that comes with it.

That homey feel comes across in the pancakes, the no-nonsense buttermilk flapjacks that come golden and relatively thick. Nicely crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with conspicuous buttermilk flavor, these are pancakes prepared just right. It doesn’t hurt that they are served with a side of salted clarified butter that facilitates a solid drenching. The menu has nearly twenty varieties of cardiac arrest-inducing options, from the Black Magic filled with crushed Oreos to the Saturday Morning Fever with Bailey’s and Kahlua batter.

It’s all about storytelling through the background, and her strong eye for detail knows precisely how to create that needed ambiance (and easter eggs) in shows. You’ll find that Frances has worked as a lead designer on the famous show Gossip Girl and other shows such as SMILF.

Her enchanting designs know how to make a statement in any room. She knows you don’t have to just fill space if you want it to be beautiful. So, you’re going to find that her designs are pretty simplistic, allowing each piece in the room to make an impact rather than hide away in the clutter.

On Campus Now

While she has left the stage, she now leaves that work on her husband and has followed her passion for interiors while creating the very endearing Amy Sklar Design. Working with various celebrities such as Patton Oswalt and Annie Weisman, she keeps blowing her clients away (while still cracking a joke here and there). Her energy, keen eye, and the thrill she receives from teaming up with clients are one of the highlights of her career. A lot of lecture-based and woodworking classes happen in the winter, and in the spring we gear up for building. For the first time in over a decade, we have a real live building on our campus – the dorm – so all the students who work on it will have created a piece of architecture. Yestermorrow has always been a scrappy place, producing unorthodox structures such as bus stops, treehouses, playgrounds and other one-of-a-kind items that now dot the Mad River Valley.

If the class you hope to take is full, you can add your name to the waitlist and we will notify you when a space is available. There is no fee to add your name to the waitlist and there is no obligation to attend if you are accepted. We cannot predict if a space will become available and may not be able to respond to inquiries about your place in line (in the summer months, we get a lot and it's hard to keep up!). If a space becomes available in a course within a week of the start, we may email the entire waitlist and offer the seat on a first come, first served basis. We welcome your inquiries and are available to answer any questions about our programs and workshops. You may register for courses online by clicking the register button on each course page.

Production spaces on Peerspace typically cost $80 — $220 per hour. More broadly, Rogers plans to lean on his professional background to restore certain emphases to the curriculum. "He's the perfect fit, the perfect spokesperson for the school," Potter Kasic said of Rogers. "If I was the person who was well situated to put us on a better local footing, Britton is hands down the person to do that on a national footing." "We didn't get that $10,000 incentive, by the way," Potter Kasic joked, referring to the state's Remote Worker Grant Program, which offers potential telecommuters a financial incentive to move to Vermont.

For our short form (2 day-2 week) courses, we typically open registration at least 6 months in advance and space is available on a first come, first served bases. We recommend registering at least 2-3 months in advance; although we will continue to accept registrations on a space-available basis until a class reaches its capacity. When there is space available, we can accept registrations up until the day before the class begins.

A sliding scale requires honest and thoughtful consideration of the complexities of income, wealth, class, race, and other forms of inequity that affect an individual’s ability to pay. We do not require income verification for our sliding scale. We trust that participants will choose a sliding scale amount that reflects what they are able to pay, and also reflects their desire to support others in joining our community. If a course has a prerequisit, it will be clearly outlined in the course description.

"I hope my experience can bring renewed design interest into everything that we do here," he said. We’re not a trade school, we’re not a craft school, we’re not an architecture school. We’re a little bit of everything, and we’re filling an important void. One thing we talked about at the festival is that “tiny house” is relative. I am trying to design a home for me and our family of four, and trying to design something around 1,200 square feet is really small for us and the way we live.

To determine your place on the scale, we encourage people to honestly assess their resources and consider the difference between a sacrifice and a hardship. If attending the course would be difficult, but not detrimental, that qualifies as a sacrifice. You may have to cut back on spending in other areas to prioritize your participation in the course. If attending the course would be detrimental to your financial health and affect your ability to meet basic needs, that is considered a hardship.

Originally a New Yorker, Joy has made quite an impact as one of the best Los Angeles interior designers. She goes above and beyond for them, and some high-profile people have caught attention to that. The City of Angels, Hollywood, is the hub for all things art and film in the US.

For example, if you apply on April 5, you will be notified by May 15. If the start of the course is approaching, you may request an expedited application review by emailing [email protected]. We recommend starting the application process at least 6 months in advance.

It has been pronounced unsustainable several times over the years, Potter said. Visiting students live in the former hotel – now converted so it also holds administrative offices, a kitchen and teaching space – and in a yurt, tents or experimental student-built structures on campus. Students from schools like Goddard and Sterling Colleges and the University of Massachusetts who take Yestermorrow’s semester-long classes earn undergraduate credits in architecture. The nonprofit school’s board is made up primarily of architects from as far away as California and Bluff, Utah – where Yestermorrow has a 13-acre outpost. Connell, who now lives in Rhode Island, is still on the board.

It’s like a decontamination area—coming into the home, taking off all your grimy stuff.” Typical layouts include hanging storage behind doors, cubbies, and benches for putting on shoes or boots. “I am using concrete-looking porcelain slabs and cement tiles.” Jeanne seals her concrete to guard against staining because it’s pretty porous. He has the perfect eye for creating a focal point in the room, for utilizing the space to evoke the ambiance he wants.

The Griddle Cafe

The Manhattan Beach mainstay is quite the local hangout, with serious weekend lines. Long considered one of the best pancakes in town, the incredible griddle produces some of the crispiest, fluffiest pancakes you’ve ever tried.

Silver Dollar Pancakes

Over the years, PJs has maintained its old-school charm while evolving its menu to cater to a diverse clientele.

Old West Buckwheat

Luckily for the breakfast lovers of Los Angeles, the city is full of some pretty outstanding pancake varieties. Drive past this Inglewood institution, and find hoards of locals trying to get a fix of South LA food staples. It’s best to avoid the place on Sundays after church, when the 1982-born restaurant is especially swarmed with hungry diners looking to get their hands on the butter-laden flapjacks. There’s nothing quite like the quaint beach bungalow-turned pancake house Uncle Bill’s.

The once-beloved breakfast spot moved to a more expansive location in Hollywood, but later reopened a breakfast spot right back in its original Santa Monica Boulevard address. But the cult favorite oatmeal griddle cakes remain, still slathered in maple cinnamon butter, and as delicious as ever.

During weekend brunch at West Hollywood’s hit charmer, Tesse, order chef Raphael Francois and pastry chef Sally Camacho Mueller’s Limoncello pancakes. The pair combined the Italian lemon liqueur with marscapone, maple syrup, and chantilly cream. The family-owned S&W Country Diner operates in Downtown Culver City, and is completely retro with the 1950s-esque counters, decor, and longtime cash-only policy. Four fluffy platter-sized cakes come in one stack, and it might be best to share unless truly hungry. This down and dirty family-run restaurant has been serving West LA since 1982.
